Privacy policy

Last updated: 28 October 2026

VAAG Fabrikat AS ("we", "us") develops and publishes Asimut and respects your privacy. This policy covers asimut.app and the Asimut app, including its Audio Unit plug-in. In short: the app collects nothing at all, and the website collects your email address only if you give it to us.

Who is responsible

The data controller is VAAG Fabrikat AS, org. no. 933 025 918, Austevågen 26, 5354 Straume, Norway. Contact: post@vaagfabrikat.no. Asimut is not affiliated with or endorsed by Apple.

The Asimut app collects no data

Asimut has no account, no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising and no tracking, and it does not send anything over the internet. We cannot see what you do in it, and nothing about you or your device ever reaches us. The App Store privacy details for Asimut say the same: Data Not Collected.

What stays on your device

Your settings, MIDI learn mappings, presets, scenes, recordings and the samples you import are stored only on your device, inside Asimut and its Audio Unit, which share one App Group container so a host project can reach the same sounds. They are removed when you delete the app. If your device backs up to iCloud or a computer, they are part of that backup, under Apple’s terms, not ours.

Bluetooth

Asimut uses Bluetooth only to connect MIDI keyboards and controllers that you choose to pair. It does not scan for or connect to anything else.

Files you import and export

When you import audio or export a recording or a preset, files are read from and written to locations you pick yourself through the standard document picker or share sheet. We have no access to those locations and no record of what you moved. What happens to a file after you share it is governed by the app or service you send it to.

The Audio Unit plug-in

The Asimut Audio Unit runs inside whichever host app you load it in and follows this same policy. It collects nothing and sends nothing; the host saves Asimut’s sound with its own project, under that host’s terms.

What the website collects

Your email address, only when you enter it to hear about the launch and later product news, together with the consent you give and when you confirmed it. This website runs no analytics and sets no cookies. Delivering a page means your browser’s IP address reaches our hosting provider; we keep no logs of it. The signup form’s server function holds the IP address briefly in memory to limit how often one address can sign up, and stores it nowhere.

Why we collect it

To send you launch news and occasional product updates about Asimut, as the signup form says. Nothing else.

Who processes data for us

Brevo (Sendinblue) stores the mailing list and sends the confirmation and news emails on our behalf, on servers in the EU, under a GDPR data-processing agreement - see brevo.com/legal/privacypolicy. The website is hosted on Microsoft Azure in the EU, which acts only as a hosting provider. Neither may use the data for its own purposes. We never sell or share your email for advertising.

Legal basis

Under the GDPR we rely on your consent (Article 6(1)(a)) for the mailing list. You give it by ticking the box and confirming the link we email you, and you can withdraw it at any time.

How long we keep it

We keep your email address until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. An address that is never confirmed is not added to the list.

Your rights

You can unsubscribe at any time with the link in every email, and you can ask us to show you, correct or delete everything we hold about you by writing to post@vaagfabrikat.no. We answer within 30 days. There is nothing to retrieve from the app: it never sends us anything.

Children

Asimut is a musical instrument made for a general audience and is not directed at children. The app collects no data from anyone, children included. We do not knowingly accept an email address from anyone under 16; if you believe a child has given us one, write to us and we will delete it.

Complaints

If you think we handle your data incorrectly, please contact us first - we would rather fix it. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority; in Norway that is Datatilsynet (datatilsynet.no).

Changes

If what we collect ever changes, we will update this page and the App Store privacy details before the version of the app or the site that changes it is released, and give the page a new "last updated" date.
